Encinitas to Discuss Plastic Bottled Water Ban at City Events
The City of Encinitas, California is considering banning plastic water bottles at city-sponsored events.
The ban, proposed by Councilwoman Lisa Shaffer, would apply during city events where drinking water is available from fountains and other sources.
Shaffer said the use of plastic water bottles is wasteful and the city already encourages employees to bring their own reusable containers to work.
The proposal is in its early stages and will be discussed at a city council meeting Wednesday.
